In the youth ministry calendar, May and June mark a busy graduation season. I think my personal record for “Fitting the Most Graduation Ceremonies or Parties into One Day” is five.
On my long list of “What I Wish I Had Known When I Started Youth Ministry,” I would certainly add that I wish I had better prepared seniors for what they would face after graduation. In my previous churches, we used to offer two seminars for seniors—during their last month before graduation. Looking back, that was far too little and far too late.
Now because of our Sticky Faith research, our church offers a monthly gathering for seniors—that starts during September of their senior year.
As you think about students you know who have graduated recently or in the past, were they well prepared? According to our data, six of seven youth group graduates do not feel like their faith is ready for college.
That’s why spreading the Sticky Faith message is so important. And that’s why we are so glad that thanks to a gift from a generous donor, we are able to double all gifts submitted between now and June 30, 2012. So your gift of $25 will automatically become $50! Will you join us with a gift of $25 or any amount to help us impact twice as many kids for the kingdom? We invite you to take a few moments and give online so that together we can turn the tide.
At FYI, we dream of the day when 100% of youth group graduates feel like their faith is ready for what they will face in the future. I can’t wait to sit through graduation ceremonies when that happens!
